TRINITY — Trinity Independent School District has rolled out a new way for parents to see exactly when their child’s school bus leaves campus and arrives home — right from the palm of their hands.

As winter approaches, Trinity ISD is introducing a new layer of safety and communication for families. The district has partnered with BusRight to launch a parent-friendly, bus tracking app designed to improve safety, reduce confusion at pick-up and drop-off, and help families plan ahead during rapidly changing weather conditions.

“Parents deserve peace of mind knowing exactly when their child’s bus is coming, especially during the colder months,” said John Kaufman, Superintendent of Trinity ISD. “This system gives families real-time visibility while helping our drivers stay on schedule. It’s another way we’re keeping our community informed and our students safe.”

Covering approximately 142 square miles of East Texas, Trinity ISD buses travel 12 routes for more than 500 miles each day. During winter, road conditions, early sunsets, and changing temperatures can make transportation more challenging for families. BusRight brings instant visibility to families who often can’t see the bus until it’s already in front of their house. The app updates every two seconds, giving parents a live view of their child’s ride and peace of mind about pick-ups and drop-offs.

“When the temperatures drop and the mornings are dark, knowing exactly when the bus will arrive makes all the difference,” said Allen Ramsey, Transportation Director for Trinity ISD. “This app helps families plan their mornings, keeps kids safe inside until it’s time to head out, and lets our drivers focus on the road.”

The BusRight platform combines dynamic routing, turn-by-turn driver navigation, and real-time parent notifications in one platform. The parent app shows where the bus is, when it left school, and when it’s just seconds away.

Parents can download the free BusRight app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Check your email for the invitation from Trinity ISD and follow the instructions to begin receiving live updates on your child’s bus stop and drop-off.

“As someone who grew up in Texas, I still remember those mornings of waiting for the bus, sweating in September and shivering in December,” said Jamie Webb, Texas Regional Account Executive for BusRight. “Trinity ISD’s commitment to give parents real-time visibility shows exactly what modern school transportation should look like: safe, efficient, and family-friendly.”

By introducing this new level of transparency, Trinity ISD aims to improve communication between families and the district and strengthen community trust. Parents now know exactly when it’s time to walk to the bus stop, no more guessing, no more standing in the sleet and hail, and no more wondering if the bus has already passed the driveway.
