Trinity Lady Tigers come up short in week’s outings

TRINITY — The Lady Tigers fell twice last week, losing 3-0 (8-25, 11-25, 8-25) to Anderson-Shiro on Sept. 23 and 3-0 (16-25, 14-25, 13-25) on Friday.

Head Coach Courtney Willis said they fought hard against Onalaska but ultimately lost. However, Freshman Braleigh Bush had 7 aces and scored 8 points during serving. Junior Ashara English led in kills with 5 kills for the game, followed by Senior Carolyn Cleveland with 3 kills, Sophomore Valerie Cleveland with 2 kills, and Sophomore Jasmine Jordan also had 1 kill. Sophomore Chrissie Vaughn had 16 serve receptions and 7 digs, as well as Jasmine Jordan with 19 serve receptions and 13 digs.

Groveton

The Lady Indians posted two wins on the week, downing Colmesneil 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-18) on Sept. 23 and beating Shelbyville 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-16) on Saturday.

Against Colmesneil, Caila Antley led the team with 8 kills, while Kayleigh Albus fired 3 aces.

Alinda Veng posted 16 digs, while Albus and Alina Veng posted 14 to Antley and Jannett Bautista’s 12.

Against Shelbyville, Albus had 10 kills while Antley served 3 aces.

Antley and Albus each had 13 digs, while Alinda Veng had 12 and Abbey Thornton had 10.

Apple Springs

The Lady Eagles were downed by North Zulch 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 17-25, 20-25) on Sept. 23.
