HUNTSVILLE — After a loss to Tarkington before Thanksgiving, the Tigers bounced back into the win column with a 64-47 win over the Alpha Omega Lions.
Head Coach Chris Harvey said the X factor for the night was his entire bench.
“Everyone stepped up, played big, and swarmed the Lions on the defensive end,” he said.
This win brought the Tigers to an overall record of 5-1.
The big three on the night were Terian Maxie who put up 21 points, Daryn Bass who put up 19 points, and Ayden DeBose who put up 14 points.
At the Alto Tournament, the Tigers went 1-2, beating Cumberland Academy 60-42 on Friday, but falling to Lago Vista 49-44 on Friday and to Frankston 61-60 on Thursday.
Ayden DeBose went 10-for-20 for 25 points while adding six assists and five rebounds. Darryn Bass shot 67 percent from the field on his way to 15 points while adding seven boards and five assists.
The Indians won their Dec. 2 game against Leggett 58-38 but lost four games in the Big Sandy Dallardsville Tournament — 70-19 to Warren on Thursday, 58-32 to Centerville and 46-24 to Hull-Daisetta on Friday, and 66-34 to Hardin on Saturday.
Against Leggett, Kutter Minter led scoring with 17, while Ruger McLain added 12.
Against Warren, Everett Snyder led the team with 8 points.
Then against Centerville, Snyder posted 19 points, and in the later game against Hull-Daisetta, Ramelo Wolfe led the team with 7 points.
On Saturday against Hardin, Jace Taylor led the team with 10 points.
The Bulldogs won second place at the Big Sandy Tournament on Saturday, falling 46-39 to the host team in an exciting overtime match.
Hardy Brown scored 19 points in the effort, while Kolt Larsen scored 14 and pulled down 17 rebounds.
On Friday, Centerville defeated Groveton 58-32, with Brown and Larsen each pouring in 20 points. The Bulldogs also downed Warren 55-52, with Larsen scoring 26 points and Iain Kendrich hitting 14.
On Thursday, Centerville beat Hull-Daisetta 74-48, with Kendrick scoring an eye-raising 46 points. Brown chipped in 23 on the day.
On Dec. 2, the Bulldogs were edged out by Slocum 68-66. Brown scored 26 points, Kendrick poured in 18 and Wyatt Clede scored 11. Larsen pulled down 10 rebounds and gained 12 assists.
The Eagles are facing five losses on the week.
On Dec. 2, Apple Springs fell to Spurger 61-40. Then at the weekend’s Slocum Tournament, the Eagles lost to Mildred 54-33 and to Slocum 66-28 on Thursday, lost to Elkhart 54-44 on Friday and to Winona 65-47 on Saturday.
