TRINITY — The Tigers’ win over Gary wasn’t the only highlight of the final game of the year; the team and fans came together to honor Ayden Debose, who crossed the 1,000-point mark in his high-school career.
That honor was well-deserved, as Debose also led the team in scoring that night with 19 points, including three treys. He was followed by Cord’e Walker, who dropped in 15, and Terian Maxie, who posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Indians lost to New Summerfield by 3 on Dec. 30 and then lost to Grapeland by 50 on Friday.
Against Grapeland, the score was 85-35; against New Summerfield, it was 39-36.
The Bulldogs move to 12-6 overall and opened district play with a 59-33 win over Laneville on Friday.
And on Dec. 30, Centerville downed Spurger 79-57.
Against Laneville, Iain Kendrick poured in 22 points, and Hardy Brown hit 19 to lead the team’s scoring. Kolt Larsen handed off 15 assists.
Against Spurger, Kendrick tallied a whopping 32 points, which includes hitting 6 treys, while Brown shot 21 points and brought down 10 rebounds. Larsen added 10 rebounds and 13 assists, and Braden White pulled down 13 rebounds.
The Eagles lost to Martinsville 53-48 on Friday.
