TRINITY COUNTY –Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash on state Highway 19, north of Trinity, that occurred Monday.
Reports indicate that at approximately 3 p.m., a 2016 Infinity QX6 was exiting Nesbitt Road while a 2019 GMC UT was traveling north. It is reported that the driver of the Infinity failed to yield the right-of-way, pulled into the path of the GMC, and the vehicles collided.
The driver of the Infinity, 32-year-old Kayla Smith of Trinity, was not injured.
The driver of the GMC, 60-year-old Paula Gilbert of Trinity, was transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Two passengers of the GMC, a 10-year-old minor and a 5-year-old minor, were not injured.
The investigation is continuing.
On Tuesday morning at approximately 4:30 a.m., three county fire departments — Groveton, Pennington and Trinity — assisted with a major accident on Highway 287 near Lewisville Road.
Trinity Fire Chief Keith Johnson said an 18-wheeler carrying a load of oriented strand board plywood overturned and spilled the load of lumber. The driver of the semi, who was not immediately identified, was trapped in the cab of the truck.
The driver was extracted and carried by HCA Air Medical to a trauma center, Johnson said.
