Two injured in two-car crash

GROVETON —Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 287, east of Crockett, that occurred Friday.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 1:47 p.m., a 2010 Peterbilt 388 towing a 2020 AOM Trailer and a 2017 GMC Acadia were traveling east.

The report indicates the driver of the Peterbilt failed to control his speed and struck the GMC as it was slowing for a left turn into a private drive, in the rear.

The driver of the Peterbilt, 61-year-old Darren Scurlock of Pennington, was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Lufkin for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the GMC, 64-year-old Donna Trudia of Sulphur, La., was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Lufkin for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
