The Trinity Fire Department responded to a woods fire on Sunday afternoon on Thornton Cemetery Road.

Three brush trucks, two tankers and 16 firefighters arrived to find approximately 30 acres burning. Texas Forest Service was called and sent a dozer crew to assist.

The fire was contained in about 2 hours. Just as fire units cleared the scene, they were dispatched to assist Groveton Firefighters on another wildfire on South Caney Creek. One tanker and a brush truck with three firefighters responded.

On Aug. 12, the Trinity VFD responded to a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 19 south of Trinity near Doug Bell Road

According to reports from Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, a 2000 Ford E-Series van was traveling south, while a 2010 Freightliner dump truck was turning south off of Doug Bell Road onto SH 19 at approximately 11:34 a.m.

It is reported that the driver of the Freightliner disregarded an official traffic control device, turned into the path of the Ford, and struck the Ford.

The driver of the Ford, 39-year-old Trisha Vycital of Trinity, was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe for treatment of possible life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner, 71-year-old Pamela Walker of Conroe, was not injured.
