GROVETON — The Groveton City Council approved a rate increase of 4.7 percent for the rental Dumpsters for the city’s solid waste customers.

Sonny Hubbard with Live Oak Environmental, the firm contracted by the city for trash removal, informed the council about the increase at the March 30 meeting. City Secretary Dorrie Cotton said the contract states Live Oak can increase rates due to inflation.

Cotton said that it will mean an increase to solid waste removal bills, which will take place May 1. The actual cost change will be determined at a later date.
