The Trinity Fire Department responded to a structure fire on April 21 on Aero Lane in the Pinecrest subdivision.

Fire Chief Keith Johnson said that fire captains Richard Harrelson and Ricky Hortman arrived on scene and reported a single-wide mobile home with the back porch on fire.

They began using a water hose to fight the fire and slowed the extension into the back door of the residence, Johnson said.

Engine 1 and Tanker 1 arrived and began an interior attack and quickly extinguished the fire inside the rear hallway and bedroom.

Johnson said that during extinguishing the fire, firefighters located two dogs and a cat. One dog was deceased; the other dog was moved outside and given oxygen.

Later, a family member transported the dog to a vet clinic, while the cat was unharmed.

Johnson said the fire appears to have started by a barbecue pit on the back porch.
