Trinity picks up first loss

The Tigers suffered their first defeat to the reigning state champions for TAAPS 2A, O’Connell Galveston, 58-47 on Nov. 24

Head Coach Chris Harvey said the Tigers didn’t go down without a fight as Terian Maxie lead the charge with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Some other key contributors were Ayden DeBose with 12 points and Daryn Bass with 9 points.

Harvy said that while it was a tough loss, it will be turned into a lesson for the relatively young group.

“These are just the types of gritty games to allow this young core to continue to grow and develop,” he said.

Centerville

The No. 12-ranked Centerville Bulldogs earned their fourth win of the season with a 73-49 win over the Neches Tigers on Nov. 24.

Sophomore Hardy Brown had a career-best 34 points along with 7 assists, 2 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 deflections on the night. Senior Iain Kendrick also poured in 22 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals.

For the Boys JV, Centerville won 33-27.

Groveton

The Indians posted two losses on Thanksgiving week, losing 65-20 to Slocum on Nov. 24 and 48-25 to Kirbyville on Nov. 25.

Against Slocum, Ruger McLain led the team with 13 points.

Against Kirbyville, Everett Snyder led the team with 11 points.
