IVANHOE – At just 15 years old, Carly Yarbrough has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the youngest certified firefighter in the state of Texas.

Carly, who recently completed training at the Kilgore Fire Academy, is following in the footsteps of her parents, Chief Brandon and Lieutenant Emily Yarbrough—both firefighters themselves.

Her passion for public service and dedication to her community have been evident for years; she has volunteered at the Ivanhoe Volunteer Fire Department for the past four years, assisting around the station and learning the ropes. She is always there when the firefighters are returning from a fire to assist in helping fill up the trucks and roll hoses.

One of her most notable personal achievements during her training was overcoming a fear of heights, a challenge she tackled head-on as part of her preparation. Committed to continuous learning, Carly has worked diligently every day to develop the skills and confidence needed to serve and protect.

Her accomplishment not only reflects her own determination but also stands as an inspiration for young people across the state. Carly’s early certification highlights her extraordinary drive and sets a new benchmark for youth involvemen
