WASHINGTON, D.C. – Woodville’s own Dr. Brian Babin, who represents Texas’s 36th Congressional District, found himself with a nod from a high place last week – that of the U.S. President.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump posted from his Truth Social platform that Babin is “an incredible Representative” and that he has his “complete and total endorsement for re-election.”

Babin responded that Trump’s endorsement “means the world to me.”

“I am humbled by his faith in me as a legislator and honored to have stood with him since the very beginning,” said Babin.

Since his election in 2014, Babin has represented the area for 10 years in the United States House of Representatives, and has declared a candidacy to run again in the 2026 GOP primary in March. Babin has drawn one opponent, Jonathan Mitchell, a Humble businessman who ran against him in the 2024 primary. There are no Democratic Party filings as of now for the primary.

In his comments via social media, Trump cited Babin’s service as chair of the House Science Committee and his commitment to a variety of causes, including working to grow the economy and toward cutting taxes and regulations.

“No one fights harder for Texas than Brian Babin,” said Trump. “He’s strong on border security, tough on crime, defends our veterans, and will always protect our great oil, gas, and energy workers,” Trump added in his endorsement.

A press release from Babin’s office, following the endorsement, touted the congressman as “one of President Trump’s earliest and strongest allies.”

“The future of our nation is on the line,” Babin said. “President Trump is leading the charge to restore American greatness—and I’m proud to be on his team.”
