BEAUMONT – The Southeast Texas Coaches Association (SETCA) held their annual high school baseball all-star game on Wednesday, June 10 at Barbers Hill high school.  The game consisted of the top senior ball players from across Southeast Texas regardless of classification.  Large schools, such as 5A Nederland, small schools, such as 1A Chester, and every size school in between were represented at this game.

The West team, led by Livingston head coach David Miller, led a tight 3-2 ball game going into the top of the seventh inning before plating four more runs to put the game out of reach at 7-2. The four runs started and ended with Jesse Bittick of Chester.  Bittick stepped into the box with the bases loaded and lined a 1-0 fastball into the left-center gap clearing the bases with a double.

He later took third base on a passed ball and scored the final run on a base hit.  As the lone 1A player for either all-star team, Bittick was greeted by his teammates to chants of “1A, 1A, 1A”.  He finished the game going 1 for 3 with 3 RBI and 1 run scored.  Bittick also played well behind the plate, catching three innings as well as filling in at first base for an inning.  Bittick’s efforts earned him the West team’s MVP honors, which included a $500 scholarship, adding to an already well decorated high school career.
