Chester reinvests CDs

Posted

CHESTER – The Chester City Council reinvested several CDs at their regular Monday meeting, Aug. 3.

After several discussions on options, the council voted to renew several CDs with the interest going into their general fund.  There was a little banter over separating one into a small CD and the rest into an emergency fund, but that did not happen.  The city has several investment CDs in several banks who offer the best interest rates, and they review and reinvest as seems best.  One broached that possibility of Fed interest rates rising and the fear of rates getting lower--so very hard to predict.

A short discussion ensued over the air conditioning that they had fixed and on how to adjust the programming so the council could be comfortable too.

Other Business

  • One customer was late on their gas bill and will be cut off for failure to pay.
  • Council approved the minutes from both the previous meetings on June 1 and July 6.
  • The financials were approved without further ado.
  • There was some small chat on the engines to a truck, yet otherwise the meeting closed in near record time, and council adjourned in good spirits.
