Chester teams end playoff runs

Both Yellowjacket girls and boys basketball teams ended their playoff runs this week. The Lady Jackets took a heartbreaking 44-51 loss to Abbott in the Area round on Friday, February 14. Kyli Handley led with 14 points, Lauren Citrano had 11, Ty Cochran 9, Sydney Brock scored 6, and Abby Grimes scored four. 

The Yellowjacket boys team lost in the Bi-District round to Kennard on Monday, Feb. 17. Jesse Bittick led in points with 21, Braysen Neal had 10, Hunter Luther 6, and Jayse Gay scored three. 

On a brighter note, baseball and softball seasons are in full swing. The Yellowjacket baseball team will play in the Woden tournament on Thursday, Feb. 20, facing Gary at 5 p.m. and Timpson at 7 p.m. Saturday game times are 10 a.m. vs Broaddus, and at 12 p.m. vs Kennard. On Friday, Feb. 21 the JV baseball team will play in Onalaska at 11am vs Shepherd and at 2:30 p.m. versus Onalaska. 

The Lady Jacket softball team will participate in a one-day tournament in Corrigan on Saturday, Feb. 22 with game times at 9 a.m. vs West Hardin, 12 p.m. vs Trinity, and 4:30 p.m. vs Grapeland.
