The Lady Jackets traveled to Hull-Daisetta for their first district game on December 9. Despite their best effort the Lady Jackets fell short 41-44. Ty Cochran led defense and rebounds scoring 12, Sadie Garsee had 10, Harley Jones scored nine, Tegan Toler five, Caede Pounds three, and Abby Bittick scored two.
At the end of the week both Yellowjacket basketball teams participated in the Colmesneil Tournament getting in some much-needed work for the season.
The Lady Jackets beat Corrigan Camden 41-21. They also played Groveton and Goodrich coming up short in both games. The boys beat Goodrich 55-32 and also picked up a win vs Kirbyville on Saturday, Dec. 13. They lost to Hull-Daisetta on day one of the tournament and Spurger on day two.
Kasen Citrano had two games scoring over 20 points and 20 rebounds. Turner Johnson and Braysen Neal each sank several three-pointers, while Gus David, Bryson Swanson, Weston Wiseman and Greyson Rosencranz helped with numerous buckets.
This week the Lady Jackets will continue district play hosting Spurger on Dec. 16 at JP Johnson Gymnasium with a 6 p.m. game time. The boys will play Hemphill following the girls game.
Next week the Jackets will take a much-needed rest period for the Christmas holiday.
The girls will play Little Centerville on Dec. 29 at home with a 5 p.m. game time.
