The Lady Jacket volleyball team participated in the Hardin Jefferson Tournament on September 3-5. The Lady Jackets faced tough competition but did pick up two wins from West Orange Stark.
The JV Lady Jackets participated in the Groveton Tournament on Saturday, September 5. The Lady Jackets started the morning with a three-set win against Grapeland, then fell in three sets to Diboll, and ultimately took third place in the tournament by beating Lovelady in three sets.
This week the Lady Jackets will host Warren on Sept. 8, and on Sept. 11 both squads will travel to Shepherd with a 4:30 p.m. start time.
‘Jackets defeat Eagles
The Yellowjacket football team was able to get their game in despite the rain thanks to Woodville High School allowing the use of their turf field.
The Jackets were not there long as they beat Apple Springs 68-18 by halftime due to the 45-point mercy rule. Kasen Citrano had 6 carries for 176 yards, 5 rushing touchdowns, 5 tackles, 4 hurries, one fumble recovery, and a pick 6. Jayse Gay had 3 carries for 66 yards with two touchdowns, 4 tackles, one hurry. Cainan Kosina had two carries for 5 yards, and one tackle.
Ethan Gray had one carry for three yards. Turner Johnson led defense with 6 tackles, 4 pass break ups, two interceptions, and a pick six. Bryson Swanson had 6 tackles and 4 pass break ups, Greyson Rosencranz had 7 tackles, Colton Wiseman had 7 tackles and one pass break up, Russell McDonnold three tackles, Hunter Ivers one hurry, Johnny Mercer two tackles, Jett Johnson one tackle, and Gunner Walker had two on side recovery. This week the Jackets will host Oakwood on Thursday, Sept. 10 with a 7 p.m. game time.
