The Lady Jackets brought home another district win vs Burkeville on April 2, defeating the Lady Mustangs 19-1. Lillie Byrd went three for three at the plate, stole one base, scored three runs, and drove in one RBI.
Allie Ogden, and Sadie Garsee went two for two at the plate and had one walk each. Ogden added two RBI’s while Garsee added five. Jorja Barnes had one hit, two walks, three stolen bases, and one RBI. Tegan Toler had one hit, two walks, two RBI’s. Ty Cochran crossed the plate once on three walks.
Kennedi Wilson had one hit, two walks, and two RBI’s. Harley Jones scored once on two walks, and Joyanna Lopez had one hit, one run, three RBI’s, and one stolen base. Sadie Garsee started in the circle for the Lady Jackets. Garsee saw six batters and struck out two and had no walks. Harley Jones who has been out on injury had her freshman debut in the circle facing seven batters, striking out five.
On Monday, April 6 the Lady Jackets faced a tough Brookeland team at home. The Lady Jackets started strong in the first inning with a quick three outs including a double play. The Lady Jackets got on the board in the first inning with Allie Ogden hitting a line drive to center field and then Ty Cochran hitting a line drive past short stop. Ogden went two for three at the plate. Harley Jones pitched a complete game striking out four.
This week the Lady Jackets will travel to Zavalla for a 5 p.m. game on Friday, April 10.
On Thursday, April 2 the Jackets beat district opponent Burkeville 19-0. Jesse Bittick drove in eight runs on three hits including a grand slam to left field in the second inning. The Jackets scored 10 runs in the first inning on the way to victory.
Turner Johnson singled, scoring one run, Bittick singled, scoring two runs, Greyson Rosencranz drew a walk, scoring one run, Bryson Swanson singled, scoring one run, Coltin Kosina drew a walk, scoring one run, Johnson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Bittick doubled, scoring three runs. The Jackets added nine more runs in the bottom of the second inning on five hits. Weston Wiseman singled, scoring one run, Johnson singled, scoring one run, Jayse Gay drew a walk, scoring one run, Bittick hit a grand slam to left field, Swanson singled, scoring one run, and Jaxon Gay drew a walk, scoring one run. Johnson was on the mound first giving up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking none.
On Monday, April 6, the Jackets beat district rival Brookeland 8-7 at home. Jesse Bittick was another great help in the game with a three-run homer in the fourth inning to tie the game at 7. Jaxon Gay hit a solo home run in the third to give the Jackets some momentum. The Jackets took the lead and stayed there in the bottom of the fifth when Gay scored on a passed ball. Gay, Bittick, Rex Gilzow, Jayse Gay, and Greyson Rosencranz each had two hits, Coltin Kosina had one hit as DH. Jayse Gay started on the bump for the Jackets going four innings giving up 6 hits, 4 walks, and one strikeout. Jesse Bittick pitched 3 innings in relief with one hit, two walks, and two strikeouts.
This week the Jackets travel to Zavalla for a 6 p.m. district game on Friday.
