WOODVILLE – The pastor of Victory in Jesus Church in Woodville is looking to the community for a little help after a robbery in early January left the church van unusable.
According to Victory in Jesus pastor August Francis, the van, which was recovered after alleged perpetrator Amber Lynn Mock, was arrested, is a vehicle that the church relies “heavily on….for our daily activities and outreach.”
Mock, who is being held in the Angelina County Jail, and was arrested in Huntington, on a long list of charges from multiple incidents, is also charged with breaking into the church, and Francis said the fundraising efforts are also to help cover some of the items that were stolen. Francis said, initially, after the burglary that projectors, a laptop computer and several other items were stolen, in addition to the van being vandalized.
“We’re seeking help to restore our van and replace some stolen items so we can continue serving our community. Even a small share or donation can make a big difference in helping us get back on our feet,” Francis said.
The church has a Go Fund Me page devoted to the fundraiser titled “Support Victory in Jesus Church After Break-In,” with the fundraising goal set at $800. Donations have currently covered $365 of that.
“Many of our members are facing tough financial times but have come together to repair the damage so far,” Francis said.
