City of Chester looking for new public works director

CHESTER – The City of Chester accepted the resignation of Public Works Director Ivan Coronado at the previous meeting of the city council.

They have put out a search for a new director, preferably with a Class C Water Certification, or the ability to get certified.

Chester canceled its citywide election because there were no challengers to the incumbents, at their regular meeting Monday evening, Nov. 4. Therefore, after Councilman Bryan Davis swore in Mayor Robert Poynter, Poynter swore in Joe Neal, Chris Cocco, and Wes Whitworth.

City Secretary Balela Weaver was pleased to note there was only one past due, whose meter was locked.  All the others had caught up on their bills.

The council swiftly passed all the agenda items, including the Chester Gas Company and city financial report.
