CORRIGAN – The Colmesneil Bulldogs suffered a 22-35 loss on the road against the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs last Friday. Corrigan is a new competitor to Colmesneil.

Facing a third-and-long to start, Corrigan sophomore quarterback Mikey Murphy struck first with a tight-window pass 47 yards over the middle to sophomore receiver Foreman for the early touchdown and 7-0 lead.

Pinned deep on the next possession, Corrigan did not have the same luck converting with short gains on the ground.

Colmesneil answered back going into the second quarter, getting inside the red zone. Senior back Dean Yates finished with a five-yard touchdown to help take a slight 8-7 edge with a successful two-point conversion.

Corrigan gave up the following onside kick, then made a big three-and-out stop to force a punt. However, junior back Da’Tavin Love fumbled the punt return near the goal line, recovered by Colmesneil in the end zone for another touchdown to extend the lead.

On another Corrigan third-and-long, Murphy threw a contested deep pass to Foreman, who took it for a 63-yard touchdown and tie the game at 14-14.

Late in the half, Corrigan sophomore defensive back Jakob Seaver stripped the ball for a turnover when Colmesneil’s offense was knocking on the door inside the red zone.

Despite good field position for Colmesneil to start the third quarter, Corrigan’s defense came out strong with consecutive stops.

Corrigan senior back Derrick Reagie got his biggest gain later in the third, bouncing and stiff arming his way into Colmesneil territory.

This was immediately followed by a 27-yard touchdown pass to Corrigan senior back Nemo Marshall for a touchdown to take another lead at 21-14.

Colmesneil tried answering back with Yates catching a long pass to get deep into Corrigan territory going into the fourth quarter. Despite getting back into the red zone, Corrigan’s defense made another crucial stop to prevent a Colmesneil score.

Corrigan capitalized as Reagie broke free on a 58-yard rushing touchdown to help extend to a 28-14 lead.

Colmesneil continued to fight with another deep pass to get inside the red zone, then freshman back Zyian Primm finished that drive with a short rushing touchdown to cut the lead 28-22 late in the game.

Corrigan maintained control and Reagie would score another rushing touchdown inside the last two minutes.

The Bulldogs now sit at a 0-2 record for the season, and will take the show on the road this Friday, Sept. 11, to Beaumont, to play All Saints Episcopal with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
