TYLER COUNTY – A recent spate of much-needed rainfall throughout last week, and into this week, which began last Wednesday, caused county officials to lift the burn ban.
On Tuesday, Nov. 5, Tyler County Judge Milton Powers announced that the ban had been lifted, but urged residents to continue to use caution and monitor all fires closely.
The ban came about in the middle of October, due to the drought conditions, and was ratified by the Tyler County Commissioners Court.
The entire region was at an elevated risk for wildfires, and most counties had enacted burning bans. As of Tuesday, many of the counties in the region had lifted their bans, including Trinity, Rusk, Anderson and Cherokee counties.
