Dam B Community Watch installs flagpole

DAM B – Funds raised from the Dam B Community Festival were used to obtain a flagpole for the Tyler County Substation located on Highway 92 near the Dam B Volunteer Fire Department station.

The substation was donated by the Dam B VFD for use by the Tyler County Sheriff ’s Office, First Responders, EMTs, etc. Members of the Watch maintain the substation, keep it clean, provide refreshments for first responders, and in general make sure it is comfortable.

Earlier this year, the Community Watch voted to install a flagpole at the Substation. Not only will this allow us to fly “Old Glory,” but will allow a large digital Christmas Tree during the holidays.

On Thursday, Nov. 13, Dam B Community Watch members, led by President Sallie Odom gathered at the Substation to break ground and install the base of the 25’ aluminum flagpole. Joining Sallie were Rick and Jan Johnson, Dan Odom and Anita Judice-Tray. Rick generously donated the use of his tractor with an auger attachment, and they were able to make quick work of the installation.

On Monday, Dec 1, the Community Watch group dedicated the flagpole and lit up the Community Christmas Tree.
