Debra Byrd, 68- living in Sandy, UT at the time of her passing on October 9,2024. She was born on January 31, 1956 in Port Arthur, TX. The cause of her passing was a ruptured aneurysm in the femoral artery. In life, Debra was a force to be reckoned with. She never met a stranger and was the life of the party, her goofiness and laughter was contagious. She had many hobbies, one being crochet, which has become a lost art. She gifted her family and friends with numerous beautiful crochet blankets to be cherished and handed down as family heirlooms.  Her crafting abilities and passion for creating many diverse projects is very well known among her family and friends.

She was Granny to many a child over the years, not just to her grandchildren.  She affected so many people in her life, she had no idea the memories of laughter and adventure she left behind.

She is preceded in death by her husband, best friend and true soul mate, Robert “Buddy” Byrd. The vision of the two of them being reunited brings a sense of joy and peace for her. She is also reunited with her parents, Belvin and Patsy (LeBlanc) Havard of Lumberton.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Barbi and Robert Nielssen of Warren; son and daughter in law,  Cody and Meagan Byrd of Silsbee; daughter and son in law, Kari and Seth Griffin of Midland. 

Grandchildren-Azlyne Matkin and husband Thomas Matkin; Damion Nielssen; Asher Byrd; Ava Byrd; Easton Griffin; Atlys Griffin.

Great grandchildren- Haydon Tucker; Kinsey Matkin; Lydia Matkin.

Sisters and brothers in law- Pamela and Eric Reagan of SC; Beverly Fowler of Lumberton; Tonya Spatola; Tracie and Royd Doyal of OK, Stacie and Edward LaFleur of Liberty.

Nieces and Nephews: Cierra Briggs, Rance Doyal, DJ LaFleur, Chelsea LaFleur, Hailey LaFleur.

There will be a private family Memorial/ Celebration of life at one of Debra’s favorite places to be, the beach, during Thanksgiving week. There will be a celebration for friends and family at a later date to be determined and announced.
