ANAHUAC – The Woodville Eagles earned their first win of the season last Thursday against the Anahuac Panthers, on the Panthers’ home turf.

A pair of turnovers during the Panthers’ offensive campaign each led to touchdowns for the Eagles, and sealed the deal for the 37-22 final score.

Anahuac scored first, early in the first quarter, on a 52-yard run, but shortly after, an Eagle interception eventually resulted in a rushing TD by Eagles’ QB Luke Babin, and a first quarter score of 7-6.

Going into the half, the Panthers led 14-6, but afterward, the Eagles came up and scored 24 points.

The Eagles now sport a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they host Coldspring-Oakhurst’s Trojans for homecoming this Friday, Sept. 12, with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

For Friday’s game, the Trojans are sporting a 0-2 record, having just lost a San Jacinto cross-county rivalry game to Shepherd last Friday.
