Early voting in primary ends Friday

TYLER COUNTY – The early voting period for the March 3 primary ends this Friday, Feb. 27.

According to statewide reports, as of Sunday, about 483,000 voters cast ballots in the Democratic primary while about 446,000 voters voted in the Republican primary. These figures, total, represent about 5% of the state’s 18.7 million registered voters.

“Nearly 19 million Texans are registered to vote, and my office and election officials across the state are working to make sure all Texas voters who want to participate in the primary election are confident in the process and ready to cast a ballot,” Secretary of State Jane Nelson said in a news release.

A total of 743 voters turned out to the polls for the first week of early voting in Tyler County, which represents about 5.1% of the county’s 14,565 registered voters. Thursday saw the highest turnout so far with 207 voters making it to the polling place in Woodville.

For the 2026 mid-term election year, there are more than 18 statewide elected positions up for grabs, as well as seats in the state legislature and officials at the local level. Several races, including the one for Attorney General and the hotly contested Senate race, have drawn national attention.

The location for early voting in Tyler County is at the Nutrition Center, located at 201 Willow Street in Woodville.

The polls open at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. through Friday. On election day, Tuesday, March 3, the polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

When voting in person, voters are required to provide some form of identification, and cell phones are prohibited.

Voters can visit VoteTexas.gov to review ID requirements, find polling locations and confirm their registration status. Additionally, the state has a voting hotline for extra voter assistance, which can be reached via 1-800-252-VOTE.
