GOP to meet at Wild Bill’s

WOODVILLE – The Tyler County Republican Party will have a meeting at Wild Bill’s Grill at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15.

The State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) chairman Daniel Hunt, along with Vice Chair Rhonda Ward will be present at the meeting to provide some guidance for the county’s GOP.

Robert Poynter, who serves as mayor of Chester, and is a chair/parliamentarian for Pct. 7, has expressed concern for the county’s GOP in the past few weeks, largely with its inability to make its required number of meetings.

“There is too much ill activity going on in the Texas House right now to remain silent. Speaker (Dustin) Burrows is running the place like a monarchy and deliberately cutting our conservative representation out of the loop,” Poynter posted to social media.

Burrows’ election to the position of Speaker of the House is one issue that has found contention within the party.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us and we must start now. We are rendered irrelevant if we don’t do anything,” Poynter told the Booster.

Poynter welcomed everyone who can to meet at Wild Bill’s on Saturday, or for anyone interested to contact him by phone at 281-661-0035.
