Jacket teams have successful week

The Yellowjacket boys and girls basketball teams had a successful week beating High Island and Burkeville in district play. The girls got an early lead against High Island on January 13 at home and never stopped until the fourth quarter buzzer.

 Freshman Harley Jones was the high point scorer with 16, Ty Cochran had 12, Caede Pounds 6, Tegan Toler and Abby Bittick each scored four, Sadie Garsee knocked down a three pointer in the 45-19 win. On Friday, January 9 the Lady Jackets traveled to Burkeville and came out on top 38-10. Harley Jones was high point in this game as well with 15, Ty Cochran had 10, Abby Bittick knocked down a couple of three pointers in the third quarter, and Caede Pounds helped with four points. 

 The boys team followed the girls on Tuesday, January 13 outscoring High Island 69-6. Kasen Citrano had 14 points, Jaxon and Jayse Gay each had 10, Turner Johnson and Weston Wiseman had 8, Bryson Swanson 7, Henry David and Greyson Rosencranz had 4, Gus David and Braysen Neal each had two. The Jackets recognized Kasen Citrano for his accomplishment of 1,000 career points before the game in front of a packed home crowd. 

 On Friday, Jan. 9 the Jackets traveled to Burkeville increasing their district record 3-1 by beating the Mustangs 47-29. Kasen Citrano was high point scorer with 24, Turner Johnson had 8 while Jayse Gay, Jaxon Gay, and Braysen Neal each scored 5. 

This week both Jacket teams will host Hull Daisetta on Tuesday, Jan. 20 with the girls starting at 5 p.m., and on Friday, Jan. 23 they will be on the road to Spurger, starting with girls at 5 p.m. time there as well.
