Janie Lavell Brown Graham James, 74, of Woodville, passed away Thursday February 13, 2025 in Woodville, Texas.

Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 beginning at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. service time at First Baptist Church in Doucette with burial following in Gregory Cemetery in Colmesneil. Officiating was Brother Milton Powers. Serving as pallbearers were Troy Graham, Jr., Mark Allen, Ramon Follmar, Darrell Bruton, Eric “Hobie” Williams, and Charles “Spider” Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Dubois, Seth Fasske, Joshua Fasske, Jared Graham, Robert Lawson, Roy James, Robert Earl James, John James, Kole James, and Blake James.

Janie was born July 29, 1950 to J.D. and Lavell Cowart Brown in Jasper, Texas.  She was a lifelong resident of Tyler County. She married Lester Wayne Graham, Sr. on October 29, 1967 and was married until his passing on September 22, 1996. She later married Robert Lynn James on March 17, 2001. Janie loved her family and she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing the piano and singing. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Doucette where she had served as church pianist for many years.   

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Lavell Brown; first husband, Lester Graham, Sr.; sisters, Thelma Wade and Peggy Crager; brothers, Willie D. Brown and Pervis Brown; nephews, Danny Ison Jr., Lonnie Brown, and David Brown; and sister-in-law, Linda Shirley.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Robert James of Woodville; children, Lester Graham, Jr. and wife Penny of Colmesneil, Jamie Graham and wife Becky of Colmesneil, and Tonya Graham Wilson of Colmesneil, Roy James and wife Heather of Woodville, Robert James and wife Darla of Kirbyville, and John James and wife Laken of Dam B; brother, Gary “Gator” Brown and wife Renee of Crandall; sister, Linda Ison and husband Danny of Colmesneil; 25 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of family and friends.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.
