WOODVILLE – The Woodville Lions Club hosted the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe’s Second Chief Herb Johnson, who regaled the Lions with the history of the tribe at the club’s second Thursday evening meeting, July 10.
Dating back before Texas’ foundation, the two tribes united and supported the formation of Texas under Mirabeau B. Lamar and then Sam Houston.
Johnson stressed the tribe’s dedication to being a friend of Texas. The Naskila resort is coming soon that will employ 1,000 in addition to a pool and other family-friendly exhibitions.
He outlined the tribe’s vast economic impact, which exceeds $200 million. A housing development will bring back more tribe members from as far away as Seattle and New York City, and their growing infrastructure promises to make them a first-class vacation spot with camping, entertainment, and education.
