Johnson running for Pct. 4 Commissioner

Posted

I’m Matthew Johnson, the Republican nominee for Tyler County Commissioner, Precinct 4.

A few months ago, I was honored to be selected by the Tyler County Republican Executive Committee. A few weeks before that, the committee held a moderated community forum at the Fire Station in Spurger, giving residents an opportunity to meet the candidates, share their thoughts, and cast a vote of confidence. I was deeply honored to receive the majority votes. At both meetings, I had the opportunity to share my background and experience with Precinct 4 and Tyler County.

My family has deep roots in Tyler County, reaching back more than 100 years. For 37 years, I have shared that life with my wife, and together we built our home and raised our three children here. Today, we are grateful to watch our eight grandchildren grow up in the same community that has meant so much to our family.

For more than 40 years, I have worked in the construction industry, including more than 30 years with the International Operating Engineers. My career has given me experience operating heavy equipment, supervising crews, managing projects, and overseeing budgets, materials, and personnel. I have worked with people from all walks of life and traveled throughout the United States, gaining valuable experience and building relationships along the way.

That experience has taught me the importance of planning, accountability, resource management, safety, and getting the job done right. I believe those skills will help me make responsible decisions when it comes to roads, drainage, equipment, facilities, projects, and taxpayer dollars.

I believe Fred, Spurger, Warren, and every community in between are special places filled with hardworking people, strong families, and a future worth investing in. I am not running to change what makes Precinct 4 special. I am running because I want to serve the people and communities. As I have gone door to door, meeting the people of precinct 4 I have listened to their concerns and hopes for the future.

My work ethic, experience, and love for Tyler County will guide me as I work with the Commissioners Court, our county judge, county employees, to keep taxes low while maximizing services to all of Tyler County and Precinct 4.

I would be honored to serve the people of Precinct 4.
