Lady Jackets defeat Colmesneil

The Lady Jacket volleyball teams JV and varsity both defeated Colmesneil on Thurs on Thursday, August 27.

The JV squad won in three sets with Madi Citrano leading hits, Malia Handley lead digs, Lillie Byrd led assists. Izzy Pate, Kendal Watton, Raelyn Crookes, Payton Vorns and Joy Lopez all contributed.

The varsity squad won with scores of 25-7, 25-16, and 25-21. Harley Jones led hits with 8, Kynlee Citrano and Caede Pounds had seven hits, Kimber Renfro had two. Pounds also had eight service receptions, four aces, and three digs. Citrano had seven service receptions, and eight digs.

Sadie Garsee led defense with 11 digs, and 14 service receptions. Demi Garsee had 5 led assists with 18 and also had eight digs.

On Friday and Saturday the varsity squad participated in the Hudson Tournament.

On Friday the Lady Jackets defeated Huntsville JV, Hudson JV, and Hemphill to place in the Gold Bracket on Saturday. On Saturday the Lady Jackets lost to Corrigan, defeated Onalaska, and then lost to Hudson Varsity.

This week the Lady Jackets will travel to Har din Jefferson for a Thursday-Saturday tour nament, Sept. 3-5. The JV squad will travel to Groveton on Sept. 5 for a JV tournament.

‘Jackets get win against Waco Methodist

The Yellowjacket football team had an impressive 56-8 win against Waco Methodist on Thursday. Kasen Citrano had six carries for 124 yards with one touchdown, two completed passes of three for 54 yards and one touchdown.

On defense Citrano had six tackles, one pressure, a forced fumble, and two pass breakups. Jayse Gay had three carries for 88 yards with three touchdowns, one reception for 11 yards. Gay also had three tackles, one pick six, and one pass break up.

Turner Johnson had seven tackles, one forced fumble, one pass break up, one carry for 42-yard touchdown, and a 15-yard pass. Bryson Swanson had one 15-yard reception, two tackles, one pass break up, one interception, and one pick 6. Greyson Rosencranz had a 43-yard reception touchdown, seven tackles, one pick 6, and two touchbacks. Colton Wiseman had 10 tackles, Ethan Gray had two tackles, Hunter Ivers one hurry, Cainan Kosina onside recovery, and Russell McDonnold had a tackle, forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

This week the Jackets play their first home game against Apple Springs on Thursday Sept. 3. The junior high squad takes the field first at 5:30 p.m. with varsity following.
