The Lady Jacket basketball team picked up their second district win defeating the Spurger Lady Pirates 55-23 on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Kyli Handley led with 23 points. Ty Cochran had 11 points, Carlen Sluga had 8, Sydney Brock and Sadie Garsee each scored 4 and Abby Grimes scored two.
The Lady Jackets placed third in the R.B. Moffett Classic tournament this past weekend, in Colmesneil, beating Corrigan and Colmesneil. Kyli Handley was named All-Tournament. Handley scored 31 points over four games. Abby Grimes scored 28, Sydney Brock scored 26, Ty Cochran 21, Allie Ogden 6, Tegan Toler 5, Carlen Sluga and Sadie Garsee each had 4, and Lauren Citrano scored 3.
This week the Lady Jackets will host Goodrich on Dec. 17, and on Thursday, Dec. 17 they will travel to Leggett with at 6pm game time.
The Yellowjacket boys JV squad came up short at home vs Big Sandy. 25-43
Hayden Mahaffey scored 14, Cainan Kosina scored 4, Henry David 3, Weston Wiseman and Jasper Burke each scored 2. The varsity boys hosted Beaumont Harmony and stayed close until the third quarter when Beaumont Harmony outscored the Jackets by 10. The final score was 41-51. Kasen Citrano scored 25, PJ Purvis 7, Gus David 4, Turner Johnson scored 3, and Jayse Gay ended with 2.
The ‘Jackets participated in the R.B. Moffett Classic Tournament in Colmesneil, over the weekend taking wins from Colmesneil and Goodrich. Kasen Citrano was named All-Tournament. Citrano scored 85 points in four games. Jayse Gay scored 18 overall, PJ Purvis, Jesse Bittick, and Hunter Luther each scored 14, Gus David, Turner Johnson, and Braysen Neal each scored 15.
The Jackets will start district play Tuesday, Dec. 17 against Goodrich at home. On Thursday, December 19 the Jackets will travel to Leggett to face the Pirates at 6 p.m.
