Lady Jackets, ‘Jackets continue wins against Goodrich, Legacy Christian

The Lady Jackets continued their winning streak, beating Goodrich and Richards this past week. On Tuesday, Oct. 14, they traveled to Goodrich to pick up a sweep with scores to pick up a sweep with scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-12.

Lauren Citrano led aces with six; Lily Payne had three; Caede Pounds had two; Marae Pounds and Josie Pecina each had one. Marae Pounds led kills with 11, while Payne and Jones had three and Abby Bittick had one.

Payne also had two solo blocks. Bittick led assists with 18, Tegan Toler had five.

On Friday, Oct. 17, the Lady Jackets faced tough competition from Richards but came out ahead after four sets with scores of 25-21, 25-11, 16-25, and 25-11.

Cadence Pounds led aces with six, Lauren Citrano had four, Abby Bittick, Sadie Garsee, and Marae Pounds had two each. Marae Pounds led kills with 13, Lauren Citrano had seven; Lily Payne five; Harley Jones and Caede Pounds each had four; Ty Cochran had two and Abby Bittick had one.

Bittick led assists with 16, Tegan Toler had 9, Caede Pounds had four. Payne had two solo blocks, and Ty Cochran had one.

This week the Lady Jackets travel to West Hardin on Tuesday for a non-district match to fill a bye, and on Oct. 24 they will host Leggett at 4:30 p.m.

‘Jackets best Legacy Christian

The Yellowjackets picked up another win this past week against Legacy Christian. The game ended in the fourth quarter by mercy rule with a score of 70-24. Jaxon Gay had 17 carries for 311 yards with four touchdowns and 25 pass receiving yards, eight tackles, and a pass break-up.

Jesse Bittick had 18 carries for 133 yards and two touchdowns, one tackle. Kasen Citrano had 4 carries for 32 yards with one touchdown, two catches for 20 yards with one touchdown, 88-yard kick return, 6 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Jayse Gay had two passes for 20 yards with one touchdown, 10 tackles, two fumble recoveries, two blocked extra point attempts.

On the defensive side of the ball, Bryson Swanson had five tackles, Blake Zulpo had seven tackles and a pass break-up, Gus David six tackles, an interception and touchdown, Greyson Rosencranz had one tackle.

Cross-country runners participate in regional meet

The cross-country team traveled to Corpus Christi and participated in the Regional Meet. Runners were Turner Johnson, Bryson Swanson, Joseph Gray, Weston Wiseman, Braysen Neal, Russell McDonnold, and Malia Handley. All of the runners did their best but did not place in the top six to advance to the state meet.
