The Lady Jacket volleyball team won the Area round playoff game against Dime Box on Monday, Nov. 3. While specific stats are not available at time of press the scores were 25-17, 25-17 and 26-24.
Earlier in the week the Lady Jackets played Corrigan in a warm-up game to prepare for the playoffs. The Lady Jackets beat the Lady Bulldogs in three sets 25-21, 26-24, and 25-21. Lauren Citrano led in aces with three while Lily Payne, Abby Bittick, and Caede Pounds each had one. Marae Pounds led kills with 13, Harley Jones had 7, Citrano had 6, Lily Payne and Caede Pounds had three, Tegan Toler, Josie Pecina, Abby Bittick, each had three, and Ty Cochran had one. Lily Payne, Josie Pecina and Ty Cochran each had one solo block.
Bittick led assists with 13, Tegan Toler had 7, Caede Pounds had 5. Citrano also led digs with 16, Marae Pounds had 13, Abby Bittick and Tegan Toler had 7, Sadie Garsee 6, Lily Payne and Caede Pounds four, Josie Pecina and Kennedi Wilson three, Lillie Byrd, Harley Jones, and Jorja Barnes had one dig each. The Lady Jackets will play Round Top Carmine for the Regional Quarterfinal on Thursday, Nov. 6, in Madisonville at 6 p.m.
The Yellowjacket football team is the undefeated District Champions for the first time in 10 years.
The Jackets beat Burkeville by mercy rule on Friday, October 31, 59-0. The defense shined again this week, not allowing a single point in district play.
Kasen Citrano had 15 tackles, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery, Blake Zulpo had 12 tackles, Jesse Bittick had six tackles, Jaxon and Jayse Gay each had four tackles while Jaxon added two pass break ups, Bryson Swanson had three tackles, three pass breakups, and three interceptions, Gus David had two tackles.
On the offensive side of the ball Jesse Bittick had four carries for 94 yards with one touchdown, Jaxon Gay had four carries for 59 yards with three touchdowns, Kasen Citrano had three carries for 136 yards with two touchdowns, Greyson Rosencranz carried three times for 22 yards, Rex Gilzow had a catch for six yards and one touchdown, Jayse Gay and Turner Johnson split quarterback duties with combined two touchdowns, Gus Cochran had a 33-yard catch for touchdown, Blake Zulpo had a carry for touchdown.
The Yellowjackets have to wait a week to find out who their playoff opponent will be, but the Bi-District round game is scheduled to be played Nov. 13-15. Exact details will be provided as soon as they are available.
The Junior High Jacket football squad has done well in district, also earning the District Championship.
