The Lady Jacket basketball team started district play with a 58-23 win vs Hull Daisetta on Dec. 3. Ty Cochran scored 23 points, Sydney Brock had 12, Kyli Handley 7, Carlen Sluga and Allie Ogden each had 4, Lauren Citrano had 3, Abby Grimes, Tegan Toler, and Madi Myers each scored 2. The Lady Jackets participated in the Apple Springs Tournament over the weekend. They played Pineywoods Christian Academy, New Waverly, and beat Apple Springs for a third place finish. Ty Cochran scored 47 points over 3 games, Sydney Brock 32, Kyli Handley 23, Allie Ogden 20, Abby Grimes 9, Carlen Sluga and Madi Myers 8, Tegan Toler 7, Lauren Citrano 5, and Sadie Garsee finished with 2 points. This week the Lady Jackets will continue district play on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Spurger. Dec. 12-14 the Lady Jackets will participate in the Colmesneil Tournament.
The boys team participated in the Big Sandy Tournament and picked up losses from Beckville, Corrigan, Big Sandy, Woden. Kasen Citrano scored 69 points over 4 games. PJ Purvis scored 13 vs Corrigan and 9 vs Woden. The Jackets will host Beaumont Harmony on Tuesday, December 10 at home and on December 12-14th they will also participate in the Colmesneil Tournament.
Lady Jacket volleyball players Marae Pounds, Emma Byrd, and Lily Read were selected to play in the Pineywoods All-Star volleyball game that was held on Dec. 7 at Lufkin High School.
The girls represented Chester High School on the “South” team with Corrigan, Diboll, Huntington, and Woodville. The “North” team consisted of players from Central Heights, Tatum, Latexo and Garrison.
