Lady Jackets take hard loss to Brookeland

The Lady Jacket softball team hosted Brookeland on Friday, March 21 and took a hard 0-11 loss. Brookeland scored three in the second inning, 6 in the third, and 2 in the fifth.

The Lady Jackets had 4 errors in the field. The Lady Jackets did turn two double plays from Emma Byrd on third to Lily Payne on first.  Lily Read and Tegan Toler each collected one hit. Allie Ogden took the loss in the circle going three innings and giving up nine runs on seven hits, two strikeouts and four walks. 

This week the Lady Jackets travel to Zavalla on Tuesday, March 25 and then on Friday, March 28 the Lady Jackets host Corrigan at home with game time starting at 4:30 p.m. 

 

‘Jackets take on Trinity

The Yellowjacket baseball team picked up a 13-2 win from Trinity on Tuesday, March 18. Jayse Gay, back from a short injury, went three for three with a double and two singles. The Jackets got on the board early in the first inning with Waylon Sturrock hitting a double scoring one, Jayse Gay drew a walk scoring one, and Kasen Citrano hit a single, scoring one. 4 more runs scored in the second inning, 2 in the 5th, one in the 6th, and two more in the 7th inning. Kasen Citrano led RBI’s with four, Will Thomason and Jayse Gay each had three, Turner Johnson, Waylon Sturrock, and Jesse Bittick each contributed with one RBI. Bittick earned the win on the bump, giving up two hits and two runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking five. Cutter Lowe came in as relief. 

On Friday, March 21 the Jackets came up short to Brookeland 3-6. Errors contributed to the loss with only one earned run. Turner Johnson led with three hits in four at bats. Johnson, Waylon Sturrock, Cutter Lowe, each had one RBI. Sturrock took the loss for the Jackets giving up five runs on five hits, two strikeouts, and three walks. Will Thomason came in as relief allowing three hits, one run, two strikeouts, and two walks. 

On Monday, March 25 the Jackets traveled to Zavalla and came home with a 19-0 win. The Jackets scored 10 runs in the first inning. Jesse Bittick, Turner Johnson, and Jayse Gay each collected two hits, with Bittick and Johnson racking up three RBI’s each. Cutter Lowe, Will Thomason, Walon Sturrock, Kasen Citrano, and Rex Gilzow each added one hit. Bittick and Sturrock each stole multiple bases. Bittick earned the win on the bump with zero hits, zero runs, three strike outs, and one walk. Jayse Gay pitched one inning giving up zero hits, two strikeouts, and no walks. 

This week the Jackets will host the Milford Bulldogs on Friday, March 28 at 4 p.m.
