The Lady Jackets picked up their first district win on Tuesday, Jan. 6 against the Leggett Lady Pirates 37-36. The Lady Jackets started the game strong outscoring the Lady Pirates in the first and second quarters and then again in the fourth. Ty Cochran led with 17 points, Tegan Toler scored 11, Harley Jones scored 7, and Sadie Garsee helped with two. The Lady Jackets traveled to Brookeland on Friday, Jan. 9 to face the number one team in the district. Despite their best efforts the Lady Jackets came up short. Ty Cochran scored 13, and Sadie Garsee scored 6.
The Yellowjacket boys team also picked up a win against Leggett on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Turner Johnson was high point scorer with 24, Kasen Citrano had 22, Jaxon Gay 9, Jayse Gay 7, Greyson Rosencranz scored 6, Bryson Swanson 5, Gus David 4, Henry David and Braysen Neal each scored two. On Friday, Jan. 9 the Jackets came up just short against #4 ranked Brookeland 56-69. Kasen Citrano had a 27 point night and also broke 1,000 career points. Jaxon Gay had 10 points, Turner Johnson scored 8, Braysen Neal 5, Jayse Gay 4, and Bryson Swanson scored two.
This week both the boys and girls teams will host High Island on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 6pm and then will travel to Burkeville on Friday, Jan. 16 with a 6 p.m. game time
