COLMESNEIL – On Saturday, August 1, legendary swimmin’ hole Lake Tejas will be celebrated for serving the community and region as a favorite destination for recreation for 86 years.

For 86 years now, Colmesneil ISD has owned and operated the lake as a fundraiser and a way to give back to the community. For the event, there will be a cornhole tournament, and participants can register for $10 per team. The organizers are asking for those who would like to participate to sign up and reserve a team slot by calling 903-802-5357 by Friday, July 25.

There will also be free door games for prizes, raffles and sweet treats. So come out and join in the fun for a day of splashes, flips and tricks at the lake. Lake Tejas is open during the summer season from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend, and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. The lake is located on FM 256 east near Colmesneil.
