WOODVILLE – The Allan Shivers Library and Museum is pleased to host a presentation by Bruce Lyndon Cunningham, internationally recognized artist and author, this Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m. in the Bunch Reading Room, located at 302 N. Charlton in Woodville.

Cunningham is a long-time forester and artist who is known for his woodcarvings, watercolor illustrations, pen and ink drawings, and other artwork. His detailed and beautiful artwork brings the viewer closer to nature, specifically forests, trees and flowers. He has also created sketches of historic buildings such as the Tolar Kitchen and Pickett House located at Heritage Village here in Tyler County.

Cunningham’s interest in art was developed early in his life when he was exposed to world renowned masterworks of art in places like Rome, Amsterdam and Germany. While attending forestry classes at Stephen F. Austin State University, he was required to draw many species of pinecones and other forest plants, which further developed his natural talent for drawing.

Cunningham blends his art with environmental consciousness and has been commissioned to paint works for Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush, among others. Many of his works and publications have received honors and awards and are displayed and treasured in homes and other locations throughout the world.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to view and learn about the fascinating work of Bruce Cunningham.  There is no charge for this event, and he will have books and artwork available for purchase (cash and checks only).  For additional information about Cunningham’s life and work, see his website at forester-artist.com.

While not an official Dogwood Festival event, this presentation takes place the day before the Festival of the Arts and Dinner on the Grounds to be held on Sunday, March 22 at Heritage Village.  We hope you will join us this Saturday, March 21st at the Library for Mr. Cunningham’s presentation!
