CRAWFORD – After a nine-year run that produced historic results, Woodville ISD’s athletic director and head football coach Ty Robinson is leaving Eagle Country.
Robinson was named last week as the AD for the Crawford Pirates program, where he will also head up the Pirates’ football program.
Robinson, who notched 79 wins and 28 losses during his tenure with WISD, saw his last season as one for the history books after coaching the Eagles to the UIL 3A Division 2 state championship game in December, where the Eagles ended up runners-up to the state title. That was the first time in Eagle football history that the team had made it to the state championship game.
During his career with WISD, the Eagles also won five district titles.
Robinson will begin at Crawford on April 7, and replaces retiring AD Greg Jacobs. Crawford ISD is a 2A school, and the Pirates have appeared in the state championship game three times, and won it once in 2004.
The McLennan County district, located near Waco, will be a move back toward familiar territory for Robinson, who has roots in Central Texas.
“Thank you, Woodville. The past nine years have been a blessing. To all of my current and former players you will never know how much you have meant to me. We will always love the Woodville Eagles. It’s time for us to go back home to the 254,” Robinson posted on social media.
Several of the players from last year’s Eagle squad will be returning in 2025, but the district is looking for a successor for “Coach Rob” now, and have retained the search firm Culwell Consulting to assist in the process.
