Small-town Christmas brings out the crowds

On Saturday, the courthouse square in Woodville was alive with the sights, sounds and smells of “A Small Town Christmas,” the countywide festival to ring in the holiday season.

The county-sponsored event came a couple of weeks earlier than it usually occurs, and the threat of bad weather that was predicted earlier in the week did not transpire. Crowds turned out to enjoy some good entertainment, including the band Southern Flavor, and plenty of good food and fellowship.

The event culminated with a parade that started in the Woodville City Park and filed along West Bluff, with Santa arriving in the parade, followed by the lighting of the Tyler County Courthouse. Judge Milton Powers declared “It’s Christmastime in Tyler County,” before encouraging the large crowd to join in to help count down to the lighting of the courthouse.
