BEAUMONT  – Ruby Spurlock, a senior at Warren High School, was named as a “Student of Integrity” in a scholarship program awarded by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Southeast Texas Foundation.

In a news release, the BBB said it is proud to announce 10 recipients of the 2026 Student of Integrity Scholarships. Last week, a total of $25,000 was awarded to outstanding high school seniors across the Foundation’s eight and a half county service area, recognizing those who embody the highest standards of ethics, character, and community leadership while achieving academic excellence.

“These scholarships are awarded in recognition of their academic excellence and ethics demonstrated through leadership, character, and integrity,” said Leigh Ann Schroeder, Director of the BBB SETX Foundation.

"It is incredibly inspiring to witness young leaders who understand that true success is built on character, integrity, and the way you treat others. Students of Integrity Scholarship recipients like Addison Sopchak exemplify the discipline, leadership, and purpose this award was created to recognize. Their success extends far beyond academics; it reflects the values that build strong communities and trusted leaders,"  said Jackie Padgett, BBB Foundation Board of Trustees, and CEO of Accent Compliance, and presenter of three scholarships.

The Foundation awards one winner in each of the eight counties served, with three winners selected from Jefferson County due to the density of the student population. Each student underwent a rigorous application process, including essays and recommendations that highlighted their commitment to doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

“Investing in these students is an investment in the future of Southeast Texas,” said Elton Hollis, owner of Hol-Tech Resources and Chairman of the BBB Southeast Texas Foundation.

For the student recipients, the scholarship represents both a reward for past hard work and a vote of confidence in their future academic endeavors.
