SARATOGA – The Year of the Bulldog continues for Chad Coker and his crew, who remain hungry for district dominance.

Colmesneil had a challenge with the West Hardin Oilers last Friday, on the Oilers’ home turf, but came away victorious, and maintaining a perfect 4-0 district record after their 32-26 victory.

The last time the ‘Dogs met the Oilers, last season, they lost by one measly point, but this time, the math was different, with the Oilers only managing to outscore the ‘Dogs in the second half of the game – once on a successful two-point conversion in the third quarter and by one touchdown in the fourth.

The win is Colmesneil’s fifth straight win in their streak.

For the ‘Dogs, several players turned in exemplary performances, but the brothers Yates were standouts, with senior running back Dean scoring four TDs on 20 carries and rushing for 82 yards. His brother, junior Jack, scored once and ran for 92 yards. The game also marked Dean Yates’ fourth in a row with at least two rushing TDs scored.

After Friday, the Bulldogs are sitting at an overall record of 6-2. They have a bye this week, but will take on the Deweyville Pirates next time they’re on the field. They host them on Taylor Field at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.
