DAM B  — A recent routine traffic stop resulted in an arrest of an Ivanhoe man on several drug charges, according to Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford.

Weatherford said that on the night of Friday, Dec. 12, some Tyler County Sheriff’s Office deputies were patrolling in the Dam B/Town Bluff area, and stopped a yellow pickup truck driven by Larry Hollis, along FM 92 and near County Road 4125.

During the stop, the deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle, and uncovered a clear plastic bag containing a crystalline substance, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with a pill bottle containing the prescription antidepressant Xanax and a small amount of marijuana.

Weatherford said the prescription label on the Xanax was scratched off the bottle.

Hollis, a 45-year-old Ivanhoe resident, was taken into custody and transported to the Tyler County Jail. He remains in custody, and is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance for the meth, which weighed at 16 grams; along with possession of a controlled substance for the Xanax and possession of marijuana. Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Tina Self set Hollis’s bonds for the charges at a combined $97,000.
