CHESTER – A reported threat at Chester ISD was deemed not credible by the district and law enforcement.
According to a statement from the school district, Chester ISD was notified of a reported threat last week, and worked with deputies with the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office to investigate.
“After a thorough investigation, the threat was determined not to be credible,” a statement from the district read.
As the investigation proved that there was no active threat, classes were regularly scheduled without interruption, according to district administration.
The district is proceeding with an abundance of caution, and there was additional law enforcement presence on campus as of Monday to help provide reassurance for students, staff and parents.
A statement from Chester ISD administration implored students, staff and parents to be vigilant when any potential threats emerge.
“We encourage everyone to remember, if you see something, say something. Reporting concerns helps us keep our schools safe for all students and staff,” a statement read.
