The Warren High School One Act Play company is making history as they advance to the Regional UIL One Act Play Contest, earning their place among the Top 24 teams in the state in Conference 3A. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Warren ISD, highlighting the continued growth and excellence of the district’s theatre program.
Under the direction of Melanie Spivey, the cast and crew of “The Storm in the Barn” have managed to captivate audiences and judges alike with their powerful storytelling, innovative staging, and emotional performances. This year’s advancement to the regional level represents a historic accomplishment for the program- as it is the highest level of advancement in UIL One Act Play in district history.
In addition to the team’s success, several students were recognized with individual honors for their outstanding work:
“These students have worked tirelessly to bring this production to life,” said Spivey. “Their commitment, teamwork, and passion for theatre are what make moments like this possible. This is a special group, and what they are accomplishing is truly something to celebrate—not just for our program, but for our entire district.”
The Warren One Act Play company will compete at the Regional Contest on April 24 at Blinn College in Brenham, where they will have the opportunity to earn a coveted spot at the UIL State competition.
