Michael Woodard is announcing his candidacy for Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace.
“I am proud to introduce myself as a candidate for justice of the peace for Precinct 3. My family has lived in this community for generations, and my roots here run deep. This county shaped me and it is where my wife, children and I have built our lives. The people of this area deserve a justice of the peace who understands the community, respects the responsibility of the office, and approaches the work with fairness and steady judgment.
“My entire career has prepared me for public service. I hold a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, and I have spent more than two decades working in education. I began as a teacher and coach in Livingston ISD, where I learned the value of listening, communication and supporting students and families during challenging moments. I later served as an assistant principal and then principal in Livingston ISD. These roles strengthened my leadership skills and taught me how to handle conflict, make difficult decisions, and apply rules consistently. I eventually became a superintendent, where I currently manage budgets, personnel matters, work with legal requirements, and make decisions that affect the entire district and community.
“I also served this region through elected leadership. I was a school board member and board president in Corrigan-Camden ISD, where I gained experience in governance, policy work, and community engagement. These responsibilities deepened my understanding of how public institutions operate and what families expect from the people who serve them.
“Before I entered education, I worked in jobs that required hard work, dependability and strong people skills. That experience helped me become well-rounded and practical, and it keeps me grounded in the realities many families face. It guides the way I approach communication and problem solving today.
“I want voters to understand that the justice of the peace is not a law enforcement job and it does not require a law degree. It is a judicial role centered on judgment, listening and fairness. They handle Class C misdemeanor cases, small claims, evictions, traffic matters and truancy cases. These decisions affect families, property and personal livelihoods, and they require someone who can stay calm, focus on the facts and treat every person with respect.
“If elected, I will run a courtroom that is efficient, accessible and consistent. I am ready to bring integrity, balance and common sense to the office. I respectfully ask for your support.”
