Both Yellowjacket basketball teams picked up losses in Brookeland on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
The Yellowjacket basketball teams celebrated Senior Night on Jan. 31 and both picked up wins against High Island.
Seniors recognized pre-game were Clay Busey, Hunter Luther, Sydney Brock, Emma Byrd, Abby Grimes, Kyli Handley and Madi Ogden. The Lady Jackets came out ahead of the Lady Cardinals 57-15. Sydney Brock had high score with 21 and also had 13 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals. Kyli Handley had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and one steal. Tegan Toler and Abby Grimes each had 6 points. Toler helped with 11 rebounds and two steals. Allie Ogden had 5 points, Carlen Sluga and Sadie Garsee each had two points. The Lady Jackets Bi-District Playoff game is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 10 vs Wells at 6 p.m. in Hudson.
The Yellowjacket boys team also picked up a win 51-13 vs the High Island Cardinals. Jesse Bittick and Hunter Luther each had 19 points, Turner Johnson had 7, Gus David, Jayse Gay and Kasen Citrano each ended with two points. The Yellowjackets will play in Burkeville on Feb. 4, and will play at home vs Hull Daisetta on Feb. 7, at 6 p.m.
