Yellowjackets are Bi-District champs

The Yellowjacket baseball team clinched a Bi-District Championship on Wednesday, April 29 against Broaddus, winning 10-0.

Turner Johnson and Jayse Gay each had two hits, and two RBI’s. Johnson scored three runs, added one stolen base, Gay scored two, and had three stolen bases. Jesse Bittick had one hit, two RBI’s, one stolen base, and one run. Greyson Rosencranz and one hit, one walk, one run, one stolen base. Weston Wiseman had one hit, one RBI, scored one run, and had 4 stolen bases. Byrson Swanson and Jaxon Gay scored one run and had one stolen base each. Bittick started the game on the mound and only allowed one hit, one walk, with nine strikeouts. Rex Gilzow pitched in relief and had five strikeouts. 

This week the Jackets will face Centerville Groveton in a best of three game series on Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m. in Hudson. Game two will be in Hudson on Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. with the “if needed” game to follow 30 minutes after. 


‘Jackets place in track events

The Yellowjacket track team traveled to Seguin for the Regional track meet and did well overall, though no athletes advanced to the State track meet.

The 4x100m relay team with Jesse Bittick, Kasen Citrano, Greyson Rosencranz, and Jaxon Gay placed 4th. The 4x200m relay team with Jesse Bittick, Kasen Citrano, Turner Johnson, and Jaxon Gay placed 6th. Turner Johnson placed fifth in the 200m dash. In field events Allie Ogden placed sixth in discus, Turner Johnson 12th in long jump and fifth in triple jump, and Kasen Citrano placed 11th in shot put.
